A puppy, a hedgehog and a volcano....
Wow, what a month! After launching my website on the 1st of April life has been wonderfully busy.
Our puppy Louie
Our family adopted a puppy in March, while my husband was overseas on business. As first time puppy owners our house has been turned upside down, but what a wonderful addition to our family. Louie is a ‘Jack Russell x Bichon’.
I will be drawing him soon (depending on workload), progress will be on Instagram & Facebook. If you are considering a Pet Portrait I would love to discuss details with you. Send me an email, details below

Commissioned artwork
I was commissioned to create a piece of art for a special birthday present for the 20th of April. The brief was:
Favourite animal is a Hedgehog
Star sign is Taurus (but also on the cusp of Aries)
After sketching a few ideas and talking to the client, I came up with the concept of a hedgehog with both star-sign constellations above.
I have prints of a hedgehog (similar to above but with no stars) available on the website by clicking here and also a hand- coloured print of a Rainbow hedgehog available by clicking here

Rangitoto Island - Nature Inspiration
Last Saturday we decided to climb Rangitoto Island.
For those of you who don't live in New Zealand, Rangitoto is a 600 year old volcanic island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland. It is 260 metres high and has been a pest-free island since 2011.
Rangitoto's terrain is quite diverse from the rocky shoreline with its seabirds and pohutakawa trees, to desolate scoria on top of lava flows that look like they should be in an alien movie. Near the crater the trees are more abundant. Then the view, wow!. A great day with lots of art inspiration.

Art Studio and more
I moved my art studio upstairs, into a lovely light open space. I also feel a lot more part of the household and on warmer days I can have the french doors open to let the sunshine and fresh air in.
So now to ART!
I have been doing an online art course over the past 2 weeks and WOW I am feeling so inspired and I have learnt so much I can't wait to start painting. Watch this space!
